| Singing since 7 . Entertaining since many can remember, raY’mond has been cultivated over the years and continues to crave more. In his on words, “ I never get enough knowledge and wisdom “. Born to the parents of Thomas & Patricia E. Davis, he is number 2 of three boys. Growing up for the artist, was not the storybook drama clad youth story that many are use to hearing. “My life when I look back on it was a blessing and still is” states raY’mond. God protected him from many of the dangers that is friends and neighbor experienced and one of the reason was for his love of sports and music. Recording his first song on his brothers equipment in a shared bedroom, raY’mond started a hobby that would later turn into a gift that he could share with the world. For five years ra’Ymond worked on his craft again before he recording anything else. He was approached with the possibility of singing with a R&B group consisting of another guy and female in his school, but the artist says, “there was just something not right with that move. He later became one of the Charter members of the Word of Life ensemble out of Nashville, TN. The ensemble later grew to be a mass choir years later. He went to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and joined the Love United Gospel Choir and travel all over the eastern, Midwest and south part of the country on tour with the choir. In his travels he met Lamar Campbell, who for a stretch of time imparted musical knowledge and the understanding of the business to him. He later started a four member group that would sing in the local community of Knoxville and other cities of Tennessee. They invited to sing at the dedicatory Sunday of the new church, Cathedral of Praise Church, under the leadership of Bishop Jerry L. Maynard, the jurisdictional Prelate for the Tennessee 4th Jurisdiction. Upon returning to his home town of Nashville, TN, he got involved with the church choir and worked diligently in the capacity of one of the pillars of the auxiliary. At this capacity he has sang back-up for the likes of Norman Hutchinson, Judith Christie McAllister, Marvin Sapp, and others. In 2003 raY’mond released his first solo album, the underground studio project, that made its way from the status of hobby to a cd that has singles such as “come in “ that are still requested today from those that know raY’mond’s music. The second cd “ the words the pen didn’t write “ released the later part of 2005 took off and was a hit in the local area and all venues that raY’mond traveled to. During this project raY’mond was able to perform during the pre-dove award and stellar award festivities. He received wonderful reviews on the singles: Your Blessing, My Friend, Found Him in the Rain, U Won, and Servant. He states that with the arrival of the new album: “The Anatomy of the Spirit Man” to be release later this year, “ we have to be a total man, inside and out”. The newest cd is stated to address the issues of concerning living healthy as well as spiritually balanced. |
